The Case Study as a Research Method

Many well-known case study researchers such as Robert E. Stake, Helen Simons, and Robert K. Yin have written about case study research and suggested techniques for organizing and conducting the research successfully. This introduction to case study research draws upon their work and proposes six steps that should be used.

This paper explains how to use the case study method and then applies the method to an example case study project designed to examine how one set of users, non-profit organizations, make use of an electronic community network. The study examines the issue of whether or not the electronic community network is beneficial in some way to non-profit organizations and what those benefits might be.

Business Management Quality Innovation with Market-Based Global SCM System Implementation

Samsung Electronics, a leading Korean company as well as a symbol of the IT industry, carried out an innovative project to strengthen its global Supply Chain Management (SCM) execution ability, gaining the industry’s interest. However, with this system implementation, Samsung Electronics expects to increase its forecast accuracy for product demands by more than 20%.

The Role of Motivation and Communication: A Case Study of Lagaan

The idea had nearly died; Aamir Khan had out rightly rejected the idea of a period film with such a peculiar subject. He was sure that playing cricket in a period film would not at all appeal to the masses and last but not the least the idea was from a director who was had a jinx of two flop films. One more flop and Ashutosh Gowariker’s career would have end with a big full stop.

The first shot of Lagaan was taken on the morning of 6th January, 2000. And the rest was history.

Corporate Governance Case Study

This report was prepared by Christopher S. Bender of Professional Education Ventures, LLC for the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

In late 1996, despite several years of progressive reforms intended to facilitate the country’s transition to a market economy, most enterprises within the Kyrgyz Republic were operating no more efficiently than they had under the system of central planning inherited from the Soviet era. Despite having gone through a process of corporatization, whereby state-owned enterprises (SOEs) were legally transformed into joint stock companies (JSCs), and despite the privatization of small and some medium-sized enterprises, few enterprises had become profitable. Some 316 public sector enterprises and 439 private sector enterprises—a sizeable percentage of the total—were operating at a loss, many of which were idle…
