A Studies on Ministry of Education

A Studies about Ministry of Education

Introduction: Educators have a responsibility, to both students and their parents, to provide a safe learning environment in which the risk of personal injury is low. For technology educators, however, this responsibility is compounded by the fact that students generally have little or no experience working in hazardous environments where the knowledge of risks and the need for safe work practises are crucial. This handbook was designed to provide you, the instructor, with assistance in your efforts to teach specific skills and best practises within the context of a broader shop safety program. In support of the safety-related learning outcomes prescribed by the Technology Education Integrated Resource Package, this handbook outlines best practises and minimum standards required in shop classes throughout BC in an effort to keep students safe and to provide them with an awareness of the importance of safety in the workplace.

Case Study on Ministry of Education

Educating students about shop safety can be a challenge—how do you provide them with enough information to ensure their safety without overwhelming them or losing their interest? And what do you do about those students who are inclined to disregard safety instructions with a wave of bravado and misplaced confidence? Unfortunately, we can’t solve the problems in your shop area, but we can offer you some suggestions on how to build safety into your current and future programs. Keep reading…

A Case Study on Scottish Power

Case Study about Scottish Power

Power Generation Company gets to Grips with Process Safety

Energy company Scottish Power set out to learn from others about asset integrity, process safety management and key performance indicators. It looked to the chemical and major hazard industries for good practice. It has taken this learning and good practice and made dramatic improvements in its management of risk, delivering significant cost savings to the business.

Case Study on Scottish Power

Process safety is a priority for the Health and Safety Executive. It is not enough to simply have designed and implemented a process safety management system. Without collecting and acting on information that shows the system is actually working and delivering effective control of risk, you cannot be sure that your major hazards are being controlled and you will be operating blind, hoping and believing that everything is fine but without actually knowing. Reality has a habit of catching up on such companies – frequently with catastrophic consequences. Keep reading…

A Case Study on effect of Stretching on Sports Performance and the Risk of Sports Injury

A Case Study about effect of Stretching on Sports Performance and the Risk of Sports Injury

Abstract: It is generally accepted that increasing the flexibility of a muscletendon unit allows a better performance and decreasesthe number ofinjuries. Stretching is regularly included in warm-up and in cooling-down exercises. However, contradictory findings have been reported in the literature. Since 1980, several authors have suggested that stretching has a beneficial effect on injury prevention. In contrast, since 1990, clinical evidence suggests that stretching  not only does not prevent injuries, but can also decrease the level of performance.

Case Study on Sports Performance

Some part of these contradictions can be explained by the various sports activities and the eclectic group of athletes studied. Sports activities requesting an increased flexibility, such as gymnastic, dancing, ice skating or diving, necessitate pre-exercise stretching to optimize the level of performance. In contrary, for sportswith slowstretch-shortening cycle (SSC) such asjogging  or cycling, there is no scientific data showing a positive effect of stretching on performance, injury prevention and recovery. On the basis of the literature this article reviews the interest of the  pre- and post-exercise stretching on the different modalities such  as range of motion improvement, injury prevention and capacity of recovery.  Keep reading…

Case Study on Security Management

Today’s organizations have a complex security management challenge on their hands. They need to orchestrate a broad range of security processes and technologies to secure their organizations in the face of increasing pressure to demonstrate compliance with a host of new regulations. More important, organizations must mitigate risk and maximize security in a way that ensures business continuity, maintains budgets, and achieves operational efficiencies across the board.

Case Study on Security Management

Check Point security management solutions are designed as an interoperable system based on a core unified security architecture which enables the central control of security policy across multiple layers of the infrastructure. This enables organizations to achieve maximum security effectiveness through the efficient day-to-day monitoring and updating of security policy and defenses. A central console provides administrators with total visibility across their security infrastructure, providing evidence of proper security controls and highlighting potential weaknesses in their defense system. A Case Study on Investing in Public Investment: An Index of Public Investment Efficiency

A Case Study about Investing in Public Investment: An Index of Public Investment Efficiency

Introduction: It is widely acknowledged that a scaling-up of public investment in low-income countries, particularly in infrastructure, is central to their development prospects.Arguments for significantly boosting investment in physical and social infrastructure to achieve sustained growth rest on the high returns to investment in capital scarce environments, and the pressing deficiencies in these areas. Historically, however, weaknesses in public investment management have resulted in inadequate returns to public and private investment in many low-income countries.

Case Study on Public Investment Efficiency

Low returns to public investment arise from poor selection and implementation of projects due to limited information, waste and leakage of resources, and weak technical expertise. Private investment returns, in turn, are lowered by the lack of complementary public inputs. At the same time, a substantial scaling-up of public investment in a weak institutional environment runs the risk of potentially undermining its growth benefits as well as prospects for fiscal and debt sustainability.  keep reading…

Case Study on Effective System for Investigating Complaints Against Police

Case Study about Effective System for Investigating Complaints Against Police

Executive Summary: Investigations of allegations of misconduct, criminality and human rights abuses must be conducted by an agency that is not only institutionally independent of police but also practically culturally and politically independent. This means that the use of former police officers should be minimal if at all. If they are used they must come from forces outside the one under investigation. My study in the field did bring me in contact with some rigorous former police investigators within agencies.

Case Study on Investigating Complaints Against Police

However, unless carefully selected for the absence of police cultural biases, and removed from positions of influence in the organisation, the risk of using former police in this central task is considerable. On the other hand, civilians can and do perform investigations in civilian bodies throughout these regions. They can be trained to be highly effective.  Keep reading…

A Case Study for Digital Billboards Distract Drivers

A Case Study about Digital Billboards Distract Drivers

The study, conducted by researchers at the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute and funded by the Swedish Transport Administration, found that drivers looked at digital billboards significantly longer than they did at other signs on the same stretch of road, with the digital signs often taking a driver’s eyes off the road for more than two seconds.

Case Study on Digital Billboards Distract Drivers

A well-regarded 2006 study by Virginia Tech for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that anything that takes a driver’s eyes off the road for more than two seconds greatly increases the risk of a crash. The study also found that nearly 80 percent of all crashes involved driver inattention just prior to (within 3 seconds) of the crash. Keep reading…

A Case Study on Techniker Krankenkasse

Case Study about Techniker Krankenkasse

Background: The Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) was formed in 1884 and is a health insurance institution providing consulting, financial planning and services for 3.4 million members in technical and technically oriented professions and industries. The Hamburg-based company merged with the Gärtner Krankenkasse in January 2000 and currently has just under 10,000 employees in 222 branches. As a result of the fusion, not only the number of employees grew, but also the data volume and data growth in the branches. A new data backup strategy thus became unavoidable.

Case Study on Techniker Krankenkasse

Challenge: Originally, data in every branch office was backed up onto DDS tapes which were changed manually every day. With an estimated annual data growth of 30 percent, the capacity of the tapes was reached more and more quickly. In addition, the time and administration involved and the risk of inserting the wrong tape was high. One employee was responsible for the daily backup of the data and changing the tapes. In order to rule out the risk of wrong or forgotten backups, the TK opted for the automation of the backup. The supposed higher costs are all relative when the costs of inefficient. Keep reading
