A Case Study on Evaluation of SGSY In Selected Blocks of Madhya Pradesh

A Study about Evaluation of SGSY In Selected Blocks of Madhya Pradesh

The SGSY, a centrally sponsored Scheme of the Ministry of Rural Development, is the largest credit-based poverty alleviation programme in the world. Addressing removal of poverty has been a cornerstone of the planning process in India since the beginning of development planning in the fifties. However, a direct programme of attacking poverty and unemployment was introduced only with the Fourth Five Year Plan. Learning from gaps and shortcomings in implementation of the preceding programmes, the SGSY in its design encompasses many factors to make it comprehensive and holistic.

Case Study on Evaluation of SGSY

Underlying the conception is the objective of bringing the poor above the poverty line by make them self employed through promotion of economic activities facilitated by the availability of credit. Formation of homogenous groups of the poor into SHGs of 10-15 persons, identification of a few key economic activities which they can start, availability of credit and subsidy, provision of appropriate training, establishment of marketing linkages and infrastructure are the key elements of the programme. A Case Study on Participatory Irrigation Management in Andhra Pradesh

A Study about Participatory Irrigation Management in Andhra Pradesh

Introduction: This study gains importance, as there is change in political leadership, which led to new thinking on the PIM. Having completed minimum rehabilitation, it is time for WUAs to concentrate on water management. Others states in the country are looking closely at the experience of AP, which has made a large-scale intervention in PIM. The outcome of this experiment will determine the direction of PIM in the country. The study looked into outcome of PIM based on its current stage and tried to map future needs looking into experience so far and priorities emerging in the context of next generation reforms.

Case Study on Participatory Irrigation Management

Methodology: Participatory irrigation management is reviewed mainly with the objective of understanding in-depth, the problem, its dimensions and the actual reasons for the problems involved in getting adequate water for irrigation. Meeting with many WUA members gave a different dimensions regarding PIM. The study began with a consultation with the principal secretary and other senior officials at the state level, followed by extensive discussions with field officials, who provided insights on issues that need to be focused by the study. The fieldwork was completed between January and March 2005. The books and records were also consulted and secondary data was collected from the officials during the visit. Keep reading…

A Case Study on Rural Income Generating Activities

A Case Study on Rural Income Generating Activities

Introduction: A major component of the Rural Income Generating Activities (RIGA) study was to construct comparable income measures from selected multi-purpose household surveys (see table in Annex I). The aim of the exercise was to provide annualized benchmark aggregates spanning four continents which, despite pervasive differences in the quality and level of information available in each survey, would be suitable for cross-country analysis. The objective of this document is to describe the methodology used in constructing the household income aggregates and their components included in the RIGA database.

Case Study on Income Generating Activities

Section II of this report discusses the general principles underlying the estimation of income aggregates. Section III describes the different components and breakdowns of our income measures and discusses some of the methodological issues behind their construction. The final section of the document describes the data transformations and imputation procedures applied. More country-specific methodological issues and idiosyncratic adjustments are addressed in Annex IV. Keep reading…

A Case study in Special Education needs School

Study about Special Education needs School

Situation: The building shown on the right is a Special education needs school (in Montreal, QC, Canada) that opened in 1911 and re-opened in 1918 after a devastating fire (1914).The school is using a central water-based heating system. The only way to locally control heating is to manually adjust each radiator; which is both tedious and imprecise. There is no remote control of the system to allow the override of local commands or scheduling according to school use.

Case Study on Special Education needs School

Objective: Reduce energy bill associated with heating while increasing student comfort and providing remote centralized and local management capabilities. Create zones throughout the school to make sure that empty rooms and hallways are not heated in the winter. Use remote management capabilities to heat and pre-heat zones according to school schedules. As the retrofit takes place in the fall, during school session, it is imperative to use the least invasive method possible. Keep reading…

Case Study of Evaluation of Sector-Wide Approach in Environment

Study about Evaluation of Sector-Wide Approach in Environment

The objective of this study is to evaluate how Dutch cooperation policy, which has promoted sector-wide approaches (SWAps) in the environmental sector in partner countries, has been interpreted and developed in Colombia. This Colombia study forms part of a larger project for evaluation of this Dutch cooperation policy: namely, evaluation of how SWAps in the environmental sector have contributed to progress towards the environmental objectives of three national governments, in Vietnam and Senegal, and Colombia, in accordance with Dutch Cooperation policy.

Case Study on Sector-Wide Approach in Environment

The case study countries have been selected in order to provide a geographical spread over three continents, and to represent different stages of experience with environmental SWAps, as well as different contexts (e.g. institutions and governance). In the Colombian case, the preparation process has been conducted recently, as formalised in the financing agreement (acuerdo de financiación) of August 2007. It is too early to evaluate the success of the SWAp in Colombia: instead, this report records the progress to date, including some initial achievements, and provides analysis of the SWAp’s design, its particular characteristics, and preliminary lessons to be learned. A Case Study on International Records Management Trust

A Study about International Records Management Trust

Background:~ A key component of the country’s Public Service Reform Programme, Phase II, was to promote e-government and knowledge management as a means of improving governance and service delivery. Tanzania was moving forward to enhance its ICT infrastructure and to develop its capability to deliver services using new technologies. The Government recognised the need to incorporate records management in the design of ICT systems so that they were capable of managing, protecting and providing reliable information over time. This objective had yet to be achieved, but computers were commonplace in most ministries, and increasingly government business and communications were conducted electronically through email, the web, desk top computers and networked information systems.

Case Study on Influence of Market Rules on the Economic Value of Wind Power

Case Study about Influence of Market Rules on the Economic Value of Wind Power

Abstract: Currently, wind power faces heterogeneous conditions for market integration throughout Europe, given both differing wind power and power system characteristics as well as according regulatory frameworks. This paper discusses marketing options and assesses the influence of market rules on the economic value of wind power for an Austrian case study. Special emphasis is thereby put on options for short-term wind power forecasting and trade. Results indicate that market integration can be improved considerably by implementing continuous day-ahead markets in Central European Countries as a first step. Under such framework conditions also simple forecast approaches provide a significant added value.

Case Study on Influence of Market

Introduction: The objective of this paper is to assess the impact of framework conditions for marketing wind power on its economic value based on empirical analyses of an Austrian case study. Therefore, the market value2 of wind power is evaluated for available marketing options within the Central European electricity market and different scenarios for short-term wind power forecasting. These scenarios reflect both the status quo as well as improved conditions with respect to the forecast horizon and variations of the spatial distribution of wind sites. Assessed imbalance costs are compared with empirical data available for other European countries. Finally, recommendations for an efficient market integration of wind power are derived with respect to the Central European electricity market. Keep reading…

Case Study on Method for Design Research

Case Study about Method for Design Research

Abstract: Case studies are used in design research to analyze a phenomenon, to generate hypotheses, and to validate a method. Though they are used extensively, there appears to be no accepted systematic case study method used by design researchers. Considering its nature and objectives, the case study method could be a suitable method for conducting design research. However, the ‘scientific method’ of conducting research is considered to be the only appropriate method. Many times, design researchers have to confront questions about the validity of using case studies and their results. The objective of this paper is to justify the use of the case study method in design research. A brief overview of case study method is also included.

Case Study on Design Research

Introduction: Research must follow a systematic method for its results to be valid. The ‘scientific method’ shown in Figure 1 is an example of an established research method found in the natural sciences. This method resulted from an importance ranking of activities performed by scientists while they do research. Though this is not the only method that could be used to conduct research, it is a generally accepted series of steps taken by researchers in scientific domains. Design research as a distinguished field of study requires its own research methods. Many unique characteristics, for example, the qualitative aspect of design research, ought to be accommodated by the method used to conduct research. The Validation square is an example of a research method. Keep reading…
