In volume one – a concert recorded from 1984 – the conductor Heinz Wallberg has invited three outstanding soloists who, together with the renowned orchestra from Vienna, build a bridge across Mozart to Schubert and Chopin to Franz Lehar. The famous tenor Nicolai Gedda, who celebrates his 75th birthday this year, sings Lehar’s infectious operetta song ‘Friends, life is worth living’. Soprano Tamara Lund contributes an excerpt from the ‘Zarewitsch (One Will Come)’.
