The company’s extensive east coast network of 28 depots and refrigerated warehouses, was created following the merger of one of Australia’s largest private transport companies, Lindsay Brothers Transport, and P&H Rural Supplies on 16 December 2002. Case Study for Integrated transport and land use

Strategic policy documents discuss the need for integrated transport and land use planning as a means to achieving more sustainable and efficient developments. The aim of this research, undertaken in 2009–2011, is to assess Sylvia Park as a case study of integrated transport and land use policies. Sylvia Park was developed by Kiwi Income Property Trust (KIPT) and opened in 2006. It is one of New Zealand’s largest retail centres with a combined gross floor area (GFA) of 72,525m2.

Resource consent has been given to develop a further 18,500m2 of commercial office space, while pending changes to the district plan could allow for a wider range of more intensive activities at the site. Sylvia Park is in Mt Wellington, ~11km from Auckland’s city centre, adjacent to State Highway 1 and the North Island Main Trunk (NIMT) rail line. Sylvia Park was selected for this case study because it is a recent development that provides access for a range of transport modes, including train and bus. Read further..
