A Case Study for East of England Observatory

A Study about East of England Observatory

Databeacon’s Data Publishing tools are built on a Java platform, enabling information consumers to interact with and graphically analyze data over the Internet. The client tool, called the Databeacon Insight viewer, is an applet that automatically loads in the information consumer’s browser. To enable analysis using the Insight viewer, the server extracts data from a data store such as a relational database, reformats the input data into a compressed, aggregated format called a cube, and embeds the cube inside an HTML page returned to the information consumer.

Case Study on England Observatory

Upon receiving the page, the browser automatically loads the Insight viewer, which reads the cube into memory, then presents the data in interactive graphs and tables. The architecture  provides a foundation for scalable Web reporting and data analysis. Keep reading..

Case Study on the Effectiveness of Telephone Coaching

Study about the Effectiveness of Telephone Coaching

The RCN has made a substantial investment in the development of internal coaches in order to support managers on the Management Development Programme (MDP). However the take up of the coaching provision by delegates has been variable and this is causing concern to the Organisational Development Department (OD Dept) as the coaching was designed to be an integral component of the programme.

Case Study on Telephone Coaching

The RCN at the end of November to start my coaching business and I plan to use telephone coaching. I am particularly interested in understanding how the availability of telephone coaching affects the uptake of coaching, as this will help me develop my offer to individual and organisational clients. In addition, I would like to understand how coaches ensure that the telephone sessions are as effective as face-toface sessions. I plan to incorporate this insight into my coaching practice using Kolb as a practice development model. keep reading…

Performance Management System Using Linkage Analysis: Case Study

Hansa|GCR has provided support to a client over a nine-year period in conducting a global brand management system. This system was used by multiple stakeholder groups to gain insight on what to do to enhance brand and market performance. One of the aspects of the brand management system was the development of linkage analysis to provide additional insight on what the organization could do to enhance the brand and ultimately increase financial results. The following pages provide a snapshot of sample results from this linkage analysis as well as background on the Hansa|GCR linkage approach.

Hansa|GCR views brand and customer management as fundamental to business management. A linked system of measures needs to inform the business and provide actionable direction for improvement. The best systems actively involve key stakeholders in conceptualizing their system and how it can support the business, plus integrate different functional groups’ perspectives in what can be done with results for on-going business management. Business Case for Equality and Diversity

Business Case about Equality and Diversity

The academic research analysed in this paper tends to involve the comparison of data on activities and performance across a number of companies, with little consideration of the role of internal processes and policies. This kind of evidence cannot explain how business benefits were realised, which would be of more use to businesses facing specific challenges. Evidence on what has actually worked and why would require detailed company case studies.

Case Study on Equality and Diversity

There are already quite a few case studies of the business benefits from equality & diversity, but they tend not to focus on business performance impacts, or to look at firms’ context and strategic response, what worked and why. The insight from this report suggests that the business case for equality & diversity might have more resonance with businesses if there was credible evidence of this more practical kind. A Case Study on Strategic Planning at the U.S. General Accounting Office

A Case Study about Strategic Planning at the U.S. General Accounting Office

Introduction: In anticipation of impending domestic and global changes, the U.S. General Accounting Office developed a strategic plan to guide its efforts. The two-year strategic planning process and GAOís Strategic Plan, 2000-2005, prompted a complete reorganization of GAO that began on October 1, 2000. Developing the plan entailed unprecedented effortóinvolving staff at all levels and a wide spectrum of stakeholders. The plan evolved, in part, in response to a senior management directive to clarify GAO’s mission and objectives. Additionally, managers foresaw the plan as an opportunity to communicate to Congress and the nation GAOís capabilities. Comptroller General David Walker referred to the plan as ” a blueprint for how [GAO] will support Congress and the American people in the future,” and “a vision for strengthening the performance and accountability of the federal government.

Case Study on Strategic Planning

With this end in mind, GAO embarked on a planning process that would satisfy criteria of the Government Performance and Results Act. Members and staff of Congress were involved heavily as GAO developed the plan, which ìstarted and ended with Congress.î Challenges emerged throughout the process, providing learning experiences that are relevant to organizations involved in strategic planning. The intent of this case study is to capture lessons learned, provide insight on GAO’s strategic planning experience, and offer recommendations to guide future strategic planning efforts at GAO. Case Study on Strategies of Imitation

The success of an innovative firm stimulates other organizations to follow suit in a competitive game of imitation. The aim of this article is to provide a comprehensive insight on the circumstances and underlying reasons of imitation strategies by rearranging the literature and empirical evidence on this issue. The imitation game we call parasite imitation takes place when the imitator follows the innovator’s lead by reproducing a similar, successful standard. This is facilitated when there are not many legal or awareness barriers to protect the innovation or when the barriers are weak or difficult to defend thus enabling quick imitation. keep reading…

A case study of Gene Aliases, and Implications for Information Curation and AI

A case study about gene aliases, and implications for information curation and AI

Abstract: This research seeks to understand how names and aliases of concepts are used in scientifc literature. Natural language processing tools, and data curation in general, depend upon unique concept identifers for information, and aliases only provide more oppurtunity for ambiguiyt; despite this, aliases seem to persist in literature and daily life. As a case study, gene names are analyzed. This article presents a discus- sion on patterns of alias usage, and implications this has for bioinformatics librarianship. Observation suggests that research scientists in the bio-medical felds think about infor- mation organization from their contextual perspective, and organize information to be most applicable to their daily re- search tasks.

Case Study on Gene Aliases

This research seeks insight into name ambiguity, to better understand why single concepts possesses multiple names, and asks how to resolve these situations. It is motivated by the degree of ambiguity found in the names and aliases of concepts used by everyone on a daily basis, in both profes- sional and casual capacities. In bioinformatics, this ambigu- ity has garnered a special interest. Gene names and aliases, in particular, present thorny diffculties and are the focus of specialized areas of model building and research. Keep reading…
