A Case Study on Virtual Systems Management

A Study about Virtual Systems Management

Introduction:~ There are many different drivers and outcomes for virtualization, including clear evidence of overall cost reduction and ROI. In fact, EMA surveyed IT technicians, architects, and management from over 600 mid- to very large organizations (89% of which had already implemented virtualization; 59% for over 12 months) and found that virtualization has delivered “real, measurable cost savings” for over 70% of these organizations. These savings come from reducing both capital expenses (‘CapEx’) – periodic costs of buying or upgrading assets such as servers.

Case Study on Virtual Systems Management

Software licenses, or data center facilities – and operational expenses (‘OpEx’) – day-to-day costs of running IT such as staff costs, rent, or power. There is clear evidence that virtualization reduces CapEx. The same research showed 73% were able to consolidate servers, 69% reduced hardware costs, and 34% reduced software costs. However, CapEx reduction is just one way to save, and it is limited to one-off budget cuts. By contrast, there are many outcomes for OpEx reduction, that deliver ongoing results to reduce IT budgets year after year. Keep reading…

A Study Report on Technology Transfer

Study about Technology Transfer

Technology transfer (TT) is a topic of fundamental importance for the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The CBD closely interlinks provisions on TT in Articles 16 (Access to and Transfer of Technology) and 19 (Handling of Biotechnology and Distribution of its Benefits) along with Articles 12 (Research and Training), 17 (Exchange of Information), and 18 (Technical and Scientific Cooperation).

Case Study on Technology Transfer

On item IX/4.2. ‘Technology transfer and Cooperation’ SBSTTA IX has proposed that the clearing-house mechanism (CHM) should be a central mechanism for exchange of information on technologies, for facilitating TT and cooperation and to promote and facilitate technical and scientific cooperation relevant for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, and fortechnologies that make use of genetic resources. keep reading….

Case Study for Wind Farm

Case Study about Wind Farm

Distributed Generation and Renewables

Introduction: Nowadays, most European governments are well aware of the potential of wind energy. From 1980 to 2000, the awareness of wind energy was mainly concentrated in Denmark and Germany where a large number of wind turbines were manufactured and installed. Germany still leads in terms of annually installed capacity with Spain close behind. Over the last 5 to 10 years many European governments have developed policies to promote renewable energy sources, including wind energy. Prominent examples are the United Kingdom, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Eastern European countries where wind energy is already installed or incentives are defined to boost the increase of renewables.

Case Study on Wind Farm

During the last 20 to 25 years the implementation of wind energy has changed dramatically. In the early stages, standalone wind turbines with installed power between 100 and 500 kW were quite common while the development of wind farms was rare. Now, after the development of incentives and planning regimes, most installations are in farms of up to 25 or more turbines. Currently, the installed power per turbine ranges from 750 kW to 3 MW and farms totalling 50 MW are not uncommon. Wind turbines in the range of 4.5 to 6 MW are available as prototypes and test specimens but are not yet commercially exploited. keep reading…

Case Study for High Performance Data Management: Thomson Reuters

A Study about High Performance Data Management: Thomson Reuters

Market Challenge: Securities and investment frms are continuing to face signifcant challenges in responding to increasingly powerful industry drivers. Customer needs and expectations are growing and international competitive pressures encourage frms to develop complex structures to attract investors with higher returns and capital protection. Following several years of rapid changes in the scale and complexity of electronic trading and other industry changes demanding swift deployments of new technology, frms are faced with a technology infrastructure laden with information silos and multi-format messaging platforms. This scale and fragmentation of IT operations coupled with the volatility of the recent crisis has highlighted the interdependence of global markets and the need for a greater transparency. Regulatory burden has pushed data management and integration yet further into the spotlight for the fnancial industry as frms strive to manage costs, gain a better understanding of their exposure to risk and improve operational effciency.

Case Study on High Performance Data Management

Technology Challenges: As frms proceed on their journeys to higher levels of data quality management, they will encounter a range of business and technology challenges. Business domains are likely to spar over data ownership and governance especially as frms become more aware of the value of data across the enterprise. Firms will also have to grapple with the inconsistent needs of internal business groups as they face the prospects of scarce resources and shortages of staff with appropriate skill sets. However, technology budgets are thawing to 77% of surveyed frms intending to increase spend on data quality and consistency initiatives. Keep reading…

A Case Study on Electoral Behavior

Case Study for Electoral Behavior

Scholarly studies of electoral behavior have a long and vibrant history. My aim here is to provide a selective summary of that history, focusing on developments that seem to me to have been especially important in shaping the current contours of the field. Since new preoccupations and insights have usually emerged as responses to salient past successes and failures, the organization of my survey is largely (though not entirely) chronological

Case Study on Electoral Behavior

I have, of course, ignored many important contributions and elided many relevant details. That is inevitable, given limitations of space and of my own expertise. Fortunately, much of what is missing here is handsomely addressed in other chapters of this volume. In any event, my hope is that the range of scholarship touched upon in the following pages will provide some sense of the richness and significance of what has been accomplished by scholars of electoral behavior over the past 70 years, while also inspiring the scholars who chart the mainstream of electoral research in the future to tackle some of the many fundamental issues that remain unresolved. Case Study on New ICT Routes to Climate Change Adaptation

Case Study about New ICT Routes to Climate Change Adaptation

Overview: In recent years, extreme climate events have negatively impacted many parts of the globe, but due to its already high vulnerability, Sub Saharan Africa has been the theatre for some of the early and more dramatic climate impacts. This has affected most significantly the livelihoods and health of the most deprived people.

Case Study on ICT Routes

As observed in the countries concerned by this case study (Malawi, South Africa, Kenya and Zimbabwe), droughts, floods, extreme temperatures have caused successive crop failures, the drying up of water sources and the spread of malaria to locations where it was not endemic (Koelle et al 2010; Wakhungu et al 2010; Zvigadza et al 2010). Between 2008 and 2011, CommunityBased Adaptation in Africa (CBAA) – an action research project –tested tools for community adaptation and knowledge generation in eight African countries while building the capacity of its partners and local communities. Through participatory methods 1 , the project helped the selected communities to adapt to climate change and share lessons learnt with key stakeholders at local, national, regional and international levels. keep reading…

Case Study on Formal Design of Hybrid Control Systems

Case Study about Formal Design of Hybrid Control Systems

Abstract: In this paper, we present an approach to the design of hybrid systems by combination of several comprehensive formalization techniques. We use Duration Calculus (DC) to specify the requirement and design at abstract level of system development. Then the high level designs are further refined in control theory. A formal verification may be done either in DC if it is possible, or in predicate calculus using the semantics of DC or theorems from control theory. We show our techniques through a double water tank case study which is one of the bench mark problem for modern process control engineering.

Case Study on Hybrid Control Systems

Introduction: Hybrid systems are an active research area on the border between computer science and automatic control. A hybrid system is a dynamical system of discrete (Hybrid controllers) and continuous devices (physical plants). Hybrid controller is a control program implemented on digital computer for the control of physical plant. Therefore the design and implementation of such systems are studied in both of control engineering and computer science. Although many physical systems are hybrid in nature, the concept of model in control engineering is traditionally associated with differential or difference equations, typically derived by physical laws governing the dynamics of the system under consideration. Application Case Study: Green IT Project Management

Going “Green” is a mission of many companies around the globe not just for reasons of environmental responsibility, but also for cutting costs in these extremely tight economic times. Green IT efforts represent a specific focus area within enterprises that hold attention to this trend. Green IT leverages information technology to streamline operations, cut costly waste, and reduce the impact on the environment. IT typically consumes only about 10% of an organization’s energy costs, but the net effect of a Green IT project is to go beyond just energy saving. To tackle the other 90%, a Green IT project extends into a variety of other departments, and to execute such an endeavor requires an effective project management function in order to identify and prioritize goals. A Green IT transformation can be a complex process.

Application Case Study: Green IT Project Management

This case study explores the use of the HostedDatabase.com Project Management web application for managing a Green IT project that insures good environmental stewardship. In the process, we’ll outline many of the contemporary tasks included in such an effort. We’ve also set up a demo application that you’re welcome to run and explore. With the demo you can get some ideas about how you might structure your own Green IT project for your company. Click here to read more…
