A Case Studies on Lean Manufacturing Strategies

Studies about Lean Manufacturing Strategies: Environmental Regulatory Management Implications

Executive Summary: In working with regulated industries over the past eight years, many EPA regulatory reinvention initiatives have recognized an emerging and very real redefinition of the manufacturing landscape. Largely, this movement has arisen in the context of today’s increasingly competitive “immediate” global market, requiring companies to conceive and deliver products faster, at lower cost, and of better quality than their competitors. Lean manufacturing is a leading manufacturing paradigm of this fast-paced market economy, with a fundamental focus on the systematic elimination of waste that holds the potential to produce meaningful environmental results.

Case Study on Lean Manufacturing Strategies

Realizing that this waste-focused paradigm shift held the potential to create positive environmental outcomes, EPA authorized this study of Corporate Environmental Management and Compliance, designed to analyze corporate business strategies and environmental management approaches and to assess the presence of waste elimination patterns similar to those observed in previous reinvention efforts. This project entailed the analysis of five “assembly” case studies and two “metal fabrication” case studies at the Boeing Company, an enterprise that has adopted, and is in the process of implementing, Lean Manufacturing principles. The case studies describe various Lean efforts at Boeing’s Auburn Machine Fabrication Shop and its Everett airplane assembly plant, and demonstrate how Boeing implements and utilizes Lean strategies in its manufacturing settings. Case Study in Work Stress among Managers: Manufacturing Sector in Pakistan

Case Study about Work Stress among Managers: Manufacturing Sector in Pakistan

Abstract: The current research explores the role of ambiguity as factors in stress among the managers in manufacturing industry of Pakistan. The subject of stress at work has been thoroughly investigated in Western countries, particularly the Pakistan. Very little work has been carried out in South Asia. Pakistan has developed very rapidly into a centre place in South Asia and business centre. Thus, it is probable that managers and workers experience stress as much as their Western counterparts.

Case Study on Manufacturing Sector

The data were collected from 100 manufacturing industries workers by using simple random technique. The present research study found that role conflict and role ambiguity were positively and significantly related to work stress among Pakistani managers and work stress was negatively and significantly related to job satisfaction. Two personality variables were chosen as moderator variables, but only one, tolerance of ambiguity showed moderating effects. Locus of control failed to moderate the stressor stress and stress response relationships. Keep reading..

A Case Study on Lean Planning in the Semi-Process Industry

A Case Study about Lean Planning in the Semi-Process Industry

Abstract: The lean approach is an idealizing improvement approach that has an enormous impact in the field of Operations Management. The approach is basically very process oriented and there was less attention first for planning and control, this being the profession of dealing with all kind of non-ideal manufacturing and supply-chain restrictions. During the last years, however, planning and control have been integrated in the lean approach, leading to the concept of lean planning. Cyclic schedules form an important element of lean planning, certainly in the (semi-) process industry.

Case Study on Semi-Process Industry

Introduction: During the last years, planning and control has been integrated rather well in the lean approach. Lean planning has an important impact in practice already. This paper describes a lean planning case study in a semi-process production plant. The case study is interesting in itself and illustrates well how lean planning can be developed in practice. It is also used, however, to show how context dependent the mechanisms are that are coupled with lean planning. That makes the results of lean interventions difficult to predict. The case study stresses in this way the complexity of developing the lean approach into theory.
