A Case Study on Criminal Justice: Concept, Process, System, and Agencies

The Criminal Justice System goes as far back as the days of Jesus. There were Soldiers who acted like policeman, the tribune which was the court system, and Caesar, Herod and even Pontius Pilate stood as judge. The prison system was that of dark caves and dungeons. As we journey to the twenty-first century, nothing has genuinely changed. In my essay I will explicate how the various aspect of criminal justice relate to one another as well as why it so important in society.

Criminal Justice: Concept, Process, System, and Agencies

Criminal Justice refers to the facet of social justice that concern violators of criminal law. The community interest within the criminal justice system demands the apprehension and punishment of law violators. The concept of criminal justice is that someone or persons accused of crimes are innocent till proven guilty though the proof is overwhelming. Click here to read more…

Case Studies of Seven Offenders

This article summarizes and compares information on seven interviewed serial killers in an ongoing project designed to study similarities and differences among these individuals. The aim of this article is to increase our collective knowledge of the dynamics of serial murder by examining the perpetrators’ backgrounds, as well as the unique ways in which they view themselves and the world around them.

Seven Offenders

Although qualitative interview research alone is not sufficient to fully understand such behavior, it is useful in many ways. Some of the information discussed based on the seven offenders interviewed is compared with broader epidemiological studies, and the strengths and limitations of each type of research are discussed. Published in 2004 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. The initial FBI study on sexual homicide and crime scene analysis, which included interviews with 25 serial murderers by the Behavioral Science Unit (BSU) at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, was published nearly 20 years ago (The Men Who Murdered, 1985). The Importance of Criminal Justice

Criminal Profiling is a method of identifying the perpetrator of a crime based on an analysis of the nature of the offense and the manner in which it was committed. It most notably can be traced back to work done in the later part of the last century, and possibly even earlier in a variety of forms. There has been a definite growth since this early work, with many individuals doing a great deal of both research and practical work in criminal profiling. The investigative technique has recently risen in popularity both in practical use and media portrayals.

The Importance of Criminal Justice

The first example of profiling available for reference which is referred to as a profile in the contemporary sense were the suggestion made by Dr. Thomas Bond, a police surgeon, who performed the autopsy on Mary Kelly, the last of Jack the Ripper’s victims.(4) Bond was initially called into the investigation to make an assessment of the surgical knowledge of the perpetrator. Case Study on Mildura: Koori and Youth Diversion Program

The Mildura command is located in Victoria but shares borders with New South Wales and South Australia. This creates a range of cross-border issues and complexities as offenders may reside in one state while committing offences in another. Offenders must be dealt with by the criminal justice system of the state in which the offences are committed. These issues are partly overcome by police in the border areas of each state being sworn members of the other states’ police services and legislation being proposed to address problems, such as those surrounding extradition.

The main antecedents of offending in Mildura are drugs and alcohol as well as homelessness and family violence. These problems tend to be interconnected, with each tending to increase the likelihood of the others occurring. In Mildura, while there are relatively few offences which occur as a direct result of drug use, in the experience of police, drug use is often an underlying issue contributing to offending behaviour and social problems.

Case Study on GreenPeace

Many social movements of different kinds are resisting the development of Green Crimes. Perhaps the most famous of these is Greenpeace, which started its campaigning against environmental degradation in 1971. Today, it is an international organisation (an NGO) that prioritizes global environmental campaigns. It is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and has 2.8 million supporters world wide, with national as well as regional offices in 41 countries.

It started life when a boat of volunteers and journalists sailed to Amchitka, an island north of Alaska where the US Government was conducting underground nuclear tests. Amchitka was the last refuge for 3000 endangered sea otters, and home to bald eagles, peregrine falcons and other wildlife.
