This Case Study contacted by the Middle Office Manager of a London Based Fund Manager who was frustrated with spending a disproportionate amount of time collating the necessary information from various computer systems in order to calculate Risk-adjusted performance measures.
The collating process would involve screen scraping from many different systems and then entering the values for calculation into Excel. Any lapses of information would be manually entered on a best endeavour basis. Even more frustratingly only the Middle Office Manager was able to work and maintain the increasingly complex spreadsheet leaving the fund exposed should anything happen to him or if he suddenly had to take a leave of absence.
