The Challenge: this test range was built in the 1940s and has an amazing history of Weapons testing, Satellite launches and lunar & Planetary Spacecraft tracking to name but a few. in 2011, the existing communication system was replaced by a range control & Safety System (rccS).as many as 150 people at some 100 range locations required instant voice communications, in almost limitless combinations, to satisfactorily monitor all aspects of a test Program including launch, flight termination, Safety template management, communication, receipt and Processing of telemetry flight Data, etc.
The Solution: the commend rccS provides numerous and varied channels of communication between master control Stations, intercom stations, Long-distance Headset units and UHF/VHF Mobile Radio units. Direct, one-to-one Intercom conversations are held in full, open duplex where both parties can speak and listen simultaneously. up to 48 conference Channels and Radio Nets are available with both pre-configured and freely-selectable participation options.
