The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. has come from humble beginnings to become one of the largest investment firms on Wall Street. Founded in 1869 by German immigrant, Marcus Goldman, the company did not assume the name “Goldman Sachs” until his son-in-law Samuel Sachs became his partner, and officially named themselves “Goldman Sachs Company”.
