Birla Ericsson Optical Limited (BEOL) was awarded a prestigious contract for supply of FRP armored cable against international competition by Dubai Water & Electricity Authority. Cables are required for network alongwith water pipeline for SCADA control.
Challenges: A high speed robust network of optical fiber was required to lay alongwith water pipeline in order to monitor pressure of water which was to transport from desalination plant to various locations. Since cable was to be installed for water and electricity utility, it was a requirement for dielectric properties and at the same time needed to be very strong to withstand heavy mechanical pressures.
