Case Study of Living Cell Technologies

LCT is in the clinical trial stage of developing live cell-based human therapeutic technologies from porcine cells. Research initiated by Bob Elliott, also University of Auckland Emeritus Professor and world leader in diabetes and autoimmune disease, galvanised the company. Started with private funds, LCT has since accessed AU$42 million and is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. The company’s most advanced product is for the treatment of Type 1 insulin dependent diabetes. LCT is developing microencapsulated porcine islet cells which can be implanted in patients to replace lost insulin producing cells. Read further on Living Cell Technologies
