Case Study for Cedar Creek Corridor Enhancement Project

The project site is located near Tambourine Mountain High School, which borders on Cedar Creek, a major creek in the area. The project site, once covered in natural rainforest, was affected by recent construction of school buildings which left some of the area void of vegetation. Local volunteer groups rehabilitated one side of the creek a decade ago, and today the area is covered by relatively mature tree growth which has formed a closed canopy, recreating a cooler and a more stable microclimate along the creek. This has been accompanied by the return of native fauna to the area, including platypus, mullet, water dragons, bluetongues, red-bellied black snakes, carpet pythons, as well as a wide variety of birds.
