Cemento de El Salvador S.A. de C.V (CESSA), established in the late 1940s, is the sole cement-producing company in El Salvador with a production of 1,175,000 metric tons in 2001 and employing more than 515 people in its integrated operations and services.

Since 1993, CESSA has been using an eco-efficiency initiative to save energy and improve environmental impacts. The focus of this effort has been the installation of a new production line based on dry furnaces. Previously, three of CESSA’s furnaces had been of the wet rotary type, very inefficient in fuel use.
