Introduction: Liberal parliamentary democracy is in crisis. Not only in the former so called underdeveloped countries but, too, in the birthplaces of liberal democracy in Western Europe and Northern America. People´s public protests against government measures which apparently have undergone all democratic procedures, can be seen everywhere: citizens of Stuttgart opposing the construction of a new train station and French people protesting against the rise of their pension age, are recent examples of the new phenomenon that the public sphere has become again a battlefield, not only in the discursive Habermasean sense, but on the streets and market squares of Western Europe…
